Academic: Bachelor's degree; Must be earned or in progress before program start; competitive review of full academic record.
Prerequisites: Relevant academic background; Engineering or technical professional background; part-time students must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or hold eligible visa status.
IELTS: 6.5 overall; Accepted English proficiency test; send electronically to Washington University in St. Louis.
TOEFL: New scale: 5.0 overall (4.5 each section) | Old scale: 90 overall (22 each section); Required for non-native English speakers without an approved waiver. For tests taken on or after 21 January 2026.; Required for non-native English speakers without an approved waiver. For tests taken before 21 January 2026.
GRE: Optional; McKelvey School of Engineering: GRE optional for full-time and part-time master's programs; submission neither helps nor hurts admission.
