Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.0/4.0; Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0. Admission is highly selective; most admitted applicants have an undergraduate GPA above 3.5. Full consideration given to all applicants meeting Graduate School requirements.
Prerequisites: Relevant academic background; Normally a BS in the physical sciences or engineering. Undergraduate studies normally include mathematics through differential equations, at least one year each of general physics and chemistry, a course in physical chemistry or modern physics, and an elementary course in properties of materials. Applicants may be admitted with deficiencies to be made up after entry.
IELTS: 7.0 overall; Graduate School minimum. Lower scores may be admissible with program approval and an ESLAT on arrival.
TOEFL: New scale: 5.0 overall | Old scale: 92 overall; Graduate School minimum. Lower scores may be admissible with program approval and an ESLAT on arrival. Old scale before 21 Jan 2026; new scale on/after that date.
GRE: Not considered; GRE not required.
