Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.0/4.0; Or equivalent. Graduate School Policy 3.1: last 90 graded quarter credits or 60 graded semester credits (or cumulative bachelor's GPA).
Prerequisites: Relevant academic background; Strong background in math, science, and programming. Degree in a technical field (mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, or another engineering branch) can succeed if basic ECE background deficiencies are made up before beginning graduate study.
IELTS: 7.0 overall; Department/recommended ELP Satisfied threshold under Policy 3.2.
TOEFL: New scale: 4.5 overall | Old scale: 92 overall; Graduate School recommended (ELP Satisfied) for tests on/after 21 Jan 2026.; Department uses Graduate School recommended (ELP Satisfied) scores. New TOEFL iBT 0–6 scale applies to tests on/after 21 Jan 2026.
GRE: Not considered; GRE scores are no longer required or accepted for MS or Ph.D. admission.
