Academic: Master's in Physics with B+ average (or direct-entry A); Typical route: appropriate master's (Physics or closely related) with at least B+ / first-class standing, or demonstrated comparable research competence (SGS Calendar). Outstanding bachelor's applicants may be considered for direct-entry PhD with an A or higher average in an honours Physics program (or comparable). International credentials must meet SGS equivalency minimums; admission is competitive.
Prerequisites: Relevant academic background; Physics or a closely related field with preparation for graduate research in Physics.
IELTS: 7.0 overall (6.5 each component); Academic IELTS. Required if primary language is not English and prior degree was not in English.
TOEFL: New scale: 4.5 overall (4.5 writing, 4.0 speaking) | Old scale: 93 overall (22 writing, 22 speaking); Aligned with TOEFL comparison chart for tests from 21 Jan 2026. Required if primary language is not English and prior degree was not in English.; Department / SGS ELP table for tests before the Jan 2026 scoring change. Required if primary language is not English and prior degree was not in English.
GRE: Not considered; GRE scores are not required.
