Academic: Bachelor's degree; Or equivalent. Ph.D. is the terminal research pathway; applications for part-time study or terminal Master's are not considered.
Prerequisites: Quantitative background; Strong mathematical preparation expected for economics Ph.D. study (typical of top US economics departments); confirm department prospective-student materials.
IELTS: 7.0 overall; Accepted alternative English proficiency test score. Standard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences minimum.
TOEFL: 100 overall; Expected overall TOEFL score. Speaking section score of 24 recommended, though scores of 20 and above are considered. Waived if undergraduate degree is from an approved English-medium institution.
GRE: Required (no minimum published); Confirm GRE policy on department prospective-student pages for the active cycle; many top economics Ph.D. programs require the GRE. Applications for part-time/terminal master's are not considered.
