Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.25/4.0; Ph.D. applicants should have a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering or a comparable major with GPA not less than 3.25/4.0. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission.
Prerequisites: Relevant academic background; B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering or a comparable major. Other science/engineering backgrounds may be considered; a master's is not required for Ph.D. admission.
IELTS: 7.0 overall; Minimum overall band 7.0 when IELTS is used.
TOEFL: 87 overall (W25, S24, R21, L17); MSE allows one section below the listed subscore minima if total is at least 87. Official scores required.
GRE: Optional; Not required; highly encouraged for PhD applicants. Applications with GRE scores are not given greater weight than those without.
