Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.0/4.0; B.S. or equivalent in engineering, life science, or physical science; Ph.D. listing requires GPA in the final two years of not less than 3.00. Applicants with an M.S. should typically have at least 3.25 overall in that degree.
Prerequisites: Relevant academic background; B.S. or equivalent in engineering, life science, or physical science. Ph.D. admission emphasizes capacity for original scholarship and research in biomedical/bioengineering, strong recommendations, and written communication.
IELTS: 7.0 overall
TOEFL: New scale: 4.5 overall | 87 overall; University minimum for exams taken on or after 21 Jan 2026.; University minimum for exams taken before 21 Jan 2026. UCLA does not accept MyBest scores.
GRE: Optional; 2026–2027 Graduate Division listing.
