Academic: Bachelor's degree; Or equivalent. Applicants from diverse STEM backgrounds (bioengineering, biophysics, chemical/electrical engineering, biochemistry, physics, chemistry, etc.) are welcomed.
Prerequisites: Quantitative background; Strong quantitative preparation in mathematics and physical sciences, with biology background from coursework or prior research. Prepare to take core courses in the first year.
IELTS: 7.0 overall; University-wide minimum when an English proficiency test is required.
TOEFL: New scale: 4.5 overall | Old scale: 89 overall; University-wide minimum when English proficiency criteria are not met. Departments may require higher. New scale applies to tests from 21 Jan 2026; old scale applies before that date.
GRE: Optional; Scores from the general or subject GRE are not required for admission to the Bioengineering PhD or MS program for Fall 2026 entry.
