Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.0/4.0; In general, undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater with fundamental training equivalent to an undergraduate major in the biological sciences is required for regular admission (handbook).
Prerequisites: Coursework prerequisites; Highly recommended: at least one course each in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology; developmental biology and genetics also recommended. Physics, mathematics (including some calculus), and chemistry through organic chemistry expected. Previous research experience highly desirable.
IELTS: 7.0 overall; Minimum for admission and/or financial support when used to satisfy English proficiency.
TOEFL: New scale: 4.5 overall | Old scale: 85 overall; MCDB lists 4.5 on the updated TOEFL launched January 2026 alongside the 85 iBT minimum.; Minimum for admission and/or financial support (iBT); paper 600.
