Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.0/4.0; Graduate School minimum; teacher-licensure pathways may have additional content requirements.
Prerequisites: Relevant academic background; Undergraduate degree in the content area/discipline or 24 semester hours relevant to the teaching area; deficiencies may require additional coursework.
IELTS: 6.5 overall (6.5 each component); Graduate School Academic IELTS minimum; General IELTS not accepted.
TOEFL: New scale: 4.0 overall (4.0 each component) | Old scale: 80 overall (18 each component); Graduate School minimum for tests taken on or after 21 January 2026. Speaking 5 required for TA appointment.; Graduate School minimum for tests taken before 21 January 2026. Some programs set higher minima.
GRE: Required if GPA below 3.0; GRE only required if undergraduate GPA is below 3.0.
