Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.5/4.0 or top 5% class rank; Fall 2027 cycle. Additional evaluation uses advanced theory exposure, courses/texts, research, and honors. Department does not offer a standalone master's.
Prerequisites: Quantitative background; Coursework in multivariate calculus and linear algebra required. Exposure to economic theory beyond intermediate undergraduate level (e.g., advanced theory, mathematical economics, game theory, or mathematics for economists) is expected. Additional analysis, differential equations, optimization, topology, probability, or measure theory is recommended.
IELTS: 7.0 overall; For non-native English speakers. Scores valid within 2 years of September program start (exam earlier than September 2025 must be retaken for Fall 2027).
TOEFL: New scale: 5.0 overall | Old scale: 100 overall; Department publishes 100 or 5.0 on the TOEFL iBT.; Department minimum for non-native English speakers (above Graduate School floor).
GRE: Expected GRE Quantitative 80th percentile or higher; Applies to both old and new GRE versions. No published single total minimum_value for machine fit.
