Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.3/4.0; Graduate application portal minimum for Master's in Mechanical Engineering. Competitive admission; meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission. Four-year U.S. bachelor's or equivalent.
Prerequisites: Relevant academic background; Qualified graduates with backgrounds in engineering, mechanics, mathematics, physical sciences, and life sciences (catalog). Historical Woodruff FAQ stated an undergraduate mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering degree for MSME eligibility; confirm current expectation on the school site.
IELTS: 7.0 overall (6.5 L/R/S, 5.5 W); Graduate portal IELTS Academic minimum.
TOEFL: New scale: 4.5 overall (R/L/W 4, S 3.5) | Old scale: 94 overall (19 each component); Graduate portal for TOEFL iBT after January 2026.; Woodruff School / graduate portal for tests taken before January 2026. MyBest not accepted.
GRE: Optional; Woodruff School: GRE is no longer required for MSME. Portal still lists a GRE code but does not state a required score.
