Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.0/4.0; Four-year undergraduate degree with an average of 3.0 on the most recent two years of full-time study (or equivalent) at the University of Alberta, or equivalent qualification. Competitive admission; MEng cutoff often higher than 3.0.
Prerequisites: Relevant academic background; Engineering undergraduate background expected for MEng pathways; Environmental Engineering and Science is an available specialization within Civil and Environmental Engineering.
IELTS: 6.5 overall (6.0 each band); GPS Academic IELTS minimum (department cites equivalent approved English examinations alongside TOEFL).
TOEFL: New scale: 4.5 overall (4.5 each section) | Old scale: 90 overall (21 each section); Department calendar and GPS ELP. New scale applies to tests written on or after 21 Jan 2026.; Department calendar and GPS ELP. Old scale applies to tests written before 21 Jan 2026.
