Academic: Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.0/4.0; Four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution with minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 over last two years or 60 credits. Strong applicants with three-year degrees may be considered.
Prerequisites: Professional work experience; At least two years of full-time work experience after undergraduate degree preferred/required for the standard MBA; Alberta MBA students average about five years. FastTrack pathway exists for less experience with different course load.
GMAT: GMAT or GRE required (550+ desirable); GMAT required for most applicants; score above 550 desirable on the classic GMAT scale (recent class average about 630). GRE accepted (~50th percentile overall). Waived for Alberta School of Business BCom graduates with GPA 3.0+ over last 60 credits, and for some PhD holders—see entrance requirements.
IELTS: 7.0 overall (6.0 each band); Alberta MBA IELTS Academic minimum.
TOEFL: New scale: 5 overall (4.5 each section) | Old scale: 100 overall (21 each section); Alberta MBA ELP. New scale applies to tests written on or after 21 Jan 2026.
